For dried lima beans, soak overnight in cold water.
Drain and add beans along with 2 quarts of water in a pot. Boil until tender, then drain.
For fresh beans, skip steps #1 and # 2. Cook until tender.
Pour beans into a buttered casserole dish.
Add minced onions, peppers, tomatoes, salt, mustard, and brown sugar.
Mix together.
Put bacon strips on top.
Cover with lid and bake in the oven at 325° F, for two hours.
