There are lots of apple pie recipes. The best are homemade. And without a doubt, the very best is this Grandma’s Homemade Apple Pie recipe. The crust of this pie will come out very flaky.

Homemade Apple Pie Ingredients

Ingredients for Apple Pie Crust:

  • 2 cups Flour

  • 1/2 cup Vegetable oil

  • 1/4 cup Milk (Grandma used whole milk, but 2% works fine)

  • 4-5 dashes of Salt

 

Ingredients for Apple Pie Filling:

  • 6 large baking Apples, Macintosh, or your favorite baking apple.
  • 1/2 cup light brown Sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon Allspice
  • 1/2 teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 2-3 pats Butter or Margarine

How to Make Apple Pie Crust:

  1. First, in a large bowl, mix together all ingredients for the crust.
  2. Next, separate the dough into two balls.
  3. Then, put each ball between two sheets of wax paper.
  4. With a rolling pin, roll out balls, making them large enough to fill the pie plate.
  5. Line the bottom of an 8 or 9-inch pie plate with one of the balls, forming it into the plate and over the lip.
  6. Set the pie plate and the crust top aside and prepare the pie filling.

How to Make Apple Pie Filling:

  1. Preheat the oven to 425 ° F.
  2. Peel and core the apples.
  3. Next, cut the apples into chunky slices, and put them into a large bowl.
  4. Then, add sugar and spices.
  5. Mix together.
  6. Put the mixture into the pie plate, and dot with a few pats of butter and a few teaspoons of flour.
  7. Put the top crust on the pie and crimp the edge.
  8. Slit the pie 4-6 times.
  9. Sprinkle a little cinnamon and granulated sugar on top.
  10. Place pie on a cookie sheet to catch any runover, and put it in a pre-heated oven.
  11. Bake at 425 degrees for 10 minutes. Then, reduce heat to 350 degrees, and bake for 50 minutes, or until the top and bottom crust are brown.
  12. Remove from oven and cool on wire rack.
