1 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
3 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 Tablespoon shortening
1/2 cup tomato juice
Sift together flour, salt baking powder, and chili powder.
Stir in tomato juice and shortening.
Drop by spoonfuls over meats or vegetables. Or, drop it into your favorite chili recipe.
Cover and simmer for 15 minutes.
Alternate: You can drop spoonfuls into boiling water. Then, serve hot with butter, salsa, or your favorite Tex-Mex sauce.
