Serves: 6
Did You Know? Got a Headache? An old-fashioned remedy was to place sliced, raw potatoes on your forehead.
6 large potatoes, baked
6 tablespoons butter or margarine
4 1/2 teaspoons of milk
1 teaspoon salt
dash or two of paprika
1/2 pound sausage, cooked
Pre-heat oven to 350 ° F.
Cut the ends of each baked potato.
Scoop out the insides into a mixing bowl.
Mash potatoes with butter, milk, salt, and paprika.
Fill potato shells with mashed potatoes.
Push a sausage through each potato.
Bake in the oven for 10 – 20 minutes until hot.
Serve hot.
Note: The original recipe calls for cooking a raw sausage inside of the potato. In today’s world, the extra fat is too much cholesterol.
Try hot dogs in place of the sausage. Kids like it!
