When we think of Okra, we think of gumbo and Cajun cooking. Well, there are plenty more great-tasting okra recipes. And, this Okra and Rice recipe is one of them.

3 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
1 cup rice
1/2 pound okra
1 onion, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
2 Tablespoons butter or margarine.
Salt and pepper to taste.
Fry bacon, and retain drippings.
Cook rice.
Cut okra into rings.
Thinly slice pepper and onions.
Steam okra, peppers, and onions, until just tender, in a small amount of water.
Add butter, okra, peppers, and onions to bacon drippings.
Cook until okra is light brown.
Mix together with crumbled bacon and steamed rice.
