Hummus Chickpea Recipe Ingredients

one 16 ounces can of chickpeas (garbanzo beans)

1 clove of garlic, peeled

1/4 cup olive oil

2 Tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice

2 Tablespoons sesame paste (Tahini)

1 teaspoon ground cumin (optional)

salt and pepper to taste

paprika

chopped chives

Recipe Directions

  1. Open the can of chickpeas, drain and reserve the liquid.
  2. Rinse the chickpeas and place them in a blender or food processor.
  3. Add garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, sesame paste, cumin, salt and pepper.
  4. Puree in the blender or food processor until smooth.
  5. Add a little of the reserved chickpea juice, if it is too thick.
  6. Ladle hummus into a serving bowl.
  7. Sprinkle paprika on top.
  8. Sprinkle chives on top.
  9. Refrigerate any leftover.
