This Chicken Ala King recipe is a main course meal fit for a king. While this is not a garden recipe, the contributor was anxious to post one of her favorite recipes. So, we obliged! And, the peas, green pepper, and onion can come from your garden.
Yield: 6 servings

1 cup green peas
1/4 cup green pepper, chopped
1/4 cup chopped onions
1/3 cup boiling water
2/3 cup flour
1 cup cold milk
2 cups chicken broth
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
2 cups diced chicken
1- 4 ounce can mushroom pieces, drained and chopped
1 tablespoon pimento, chopped
Cooked minute rice, or long rice
Cook peas, green pepper, and onions in boiling water in a covered pan for 5 minutes.
Drain and save liquid.
Blend flour with cold milk.
Add vegetable cooking liquid, chicken broth, and seasonings.
Slowly stir in the flour mixture.
Bring to a slow boil.
Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
Add chicken, cooked vegetables, mushrooms, and pimentos.
Serve hot cooked minute rice or long rice.
