Use your homegrown basil to make this fresh basil pesto sauce recipe. It is good on chicken, fish, and poultry. You can also put it into your homemade pasta sauce. Or, spread in on a fresh piece of Italian bread.
Serves: Makes about 1 cup
Did You Know? Freezing Basil is the best way to preserve it. Try putting basil in an ice cube tray and fill the tray with water. Then, freeze it. When you need some basil for a recipe, take out a cube or two.
2 cups fresh basil leaves
2 Garlic Cloves
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 Tablespoons grated Romano cheese
1/4 cup Pine Nuts or Walnuts
1/2 cup olive oil
Salt and ground Black Pepper to taste
Combine the basil, garlic, cheeses, and nuts in a blender.
Process to chop and mix ingredients.
With the machine running at the slowest speed, slowly add the olive oil.
Season to taste with salt and ground black pepper.
Continue processing to the desired consistency.
Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
Note: Leftover Basil Pesto Sauce can be frozen.
Get the full brightness from your lightbulbs. Clean them when they are off, with a dust rag or a damp cloth.
