Most of us eat butternut squash during the holidays. It’s a “must have” for many people at the Thanksgiving table. And, it’s commonly served as a side dish whenever turkey is on the menu. But, Butternut squash, cooked on the grill, is a great treat. And you don’t have to wait until Thanksgiving to enjoy it. You can use this grilled butternut squash recipe with any variety of winter squash.
We have listed two easy- to-make basting sauces. try each one. Then, decide which one you like the best.

1 butternut squash
Basting Sauce # 1
olive oil
salt and pepper, to taste
Basting Sauce #2
4 Tablespoons Brown Sugar
1 Tablespoon cider (or any fruit juice)
If you are using the brown sugar basting sauce, mix the brown sugar and juice together and set aside.
Wash the outside of the butternut squash.
Then, slice the squash into 1/2″ to 3/4″ wheels.
Remove seeds and pulp from slices on the bottom end.
Brush both sides of the slices with Basting sauce #1 or #2..
Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste.
Grilled over medium heat.
When the squash is brown on one side, turn over.
Pierce with a fork, to test if it is tender(soft).
Remove from grill when squash is tender.
Serve hot.
Grilling Tip: Try other grilling and basting oils.
Clean and rejuvenate your oven racks without harsh chemicals. And, do it without scrubbing.
First, place the oven racks into the bathtub. Fill the tub with water to cover them. Then, add powdered dishwashing detergent. Let them soak them for about four hours. Finally, rinse them off and return the racks to the oven.
