Serves: 6

Did You Know? Got a Headache? An old-fashioned remedy was to place sliced, raw potatoes on your forehead.

Pigs and Taters Recipe Ingredients

6 large potatoes, baked

6 tablespoons butter or margarine

4 1/2 teaspoons of milk

1 teaspoon salt

dash or two of paprika

1/2 pound sausage, cooked

Recipe Directions

  1. Pre-heat oven to 350 ° F.

  2. Cut the ends of each baked potato.

  3. Scoop out the insides into a mixing bowl.

  4. Mash potatoes with butter, milk, salt, and paprika.

  5. Fill potato shells with mashed potatoes.

  6. Push a sausage through each potato.

  7. Bake in the oven for 10 – 20 minutes until hot.

  8. Serve hot.

Note: The original recipe calls for cooking a raw sausage inside of the potato. In today’s world, the extra fat is too much cholesterol.

Try hot dogs in place of the sausage. Kids like it!
