Homemade Cornbread Recipe

Description:  This is a homemade cornbread that you can make quickly from scratch.

Yield: 6 to 9 servings

Did you Know? Cornmeal, a basic ingredient in cornbread is simply ground corn.


Ingredients:

  • 1 cup yellow cornmeal

  • 1 cup flour

  • 1/3 cup sugar

  • 4 teaspoons baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup milk, whole or 2%

  • 1 egg, beaten

  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil


Preparation Directions:

  1. Pre-heat oven to 400 degrees.

  2. Mix dry ingredients in a bowl and set aside.

  3. In a second bowl, combine milk, egg and vegetable oil. Stir together.

  4. Add the liquid mix to the dry ingredients. Stir together just enough to mix.

  5. Pour batter into a greased 8" X 8" baking pan.

  6. Bake for approximately 25 minutes, or the top is slightly browned.

  7. Serve warm or cool.
