This Sweet and Sour Cabbage recipe is definitely a little different. It includes apples! Don’t shy away from trying it, as we think you will like it. While this recipe calls for the red cabbage, you can substitute it with white cabbage. Better still, make a blend of both!
Yield: 6 to 8 servings

2 1/2 pounds red cabbage
2 Tablespoons butter
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1/2 cup sugar
3 tart apples
1/2 cup vinegar
Thinly slice cabbage and place in a pot.
Add butter, salt, pepper, spices, and sugar.
Add water to cover the contents in the pot.
Peel, core, and slice apples, and add to the pot.
Simmer for one hour, stirring occasionally.
Add vinegar, and simmer for 1 more hour.
Serve hot.
