How to Make Beer Batter Onion Rings Recipe

Beer Batter Onion Rings Ingredients
2 large, sweet onions
1 cup flour
1 cup beer
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
dash or two of paprika, optional to add color
3-4 cups shortening or vegetable oil.
Beer Batter Onion Rings Recipe Directions
- Peel onions.
- Slice into 1/4 inch or large slices. Separate the rings and set them aside on a plate.
- In a bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, salt, and pepper.
- Add a dash or two of paprika. This will darken the batter, so the onion rings will look more golden.
- Gradually mix the beer into the mixture.
- Refrigerate the batter for 3-4 hours.
- Heat shortening or vegetable oil to 375 ° F.
- Dip the onion rings into the batter. Allow excess batter to drip off.
- Place several rings into the hot oil.
- Cook until golden brown, about 3-5 minutes.
