How to Make Applesauce Recipe
Description: Apples are a favorite of millions of people, young and
old. While most of the year, people buy it at the store in a jar, there is
nothing better than warm, homemade apple sauce. And, if you are going to
use apples from your own apple tree, it somehow tastes even better.
Homemade apple sauce is amazingly easy to make. Are you ready? Here goes.......
Ingredients:
Just apples! That's right. All you need to make apple sauce is apples.
And, here is where it gets interesting. Different apples have different flavor.
Use your favorite variety of apples. Or, experiment with blending a number
of varieties.
Note: Some apples are best for baking, some are best for eating fresh. Any
variety can be used when making apple sauce.
Preparation Directions:
-
Use as many, or as few apples as you want. We recommend at least a dozen
to make a small amount of applesauce.
-
Peel and core the apples. Cut each apple into a few pieces, and place in
a pan.
-
Cook on top of the stove at a low temperature setting.
-
Some people put a small amount of water or cider in the bottom of the pan
to get it started. If you start cooking on a low temperature, this is not
necessary.
-
Use a masher to break up and mash pieces as they cook.
-
Cook until it reaches the right texture for you and your family.
-
It is important to stir very frequently, so it doesn't burn on the bottom.
Optional:
Homemade apple sauce is great as the sole ingredient. The apples contain
plenty of sugar, and lots of delicious flavor.
But, some people add:
-
A touch of butter
-
Extra sugar!
-
Cinnamon. We recommend no cinnamon in the apple sauce. Let the family add
it to taste right at the table.
-
Other fruits. Try a little cranberry. It ads a distinctive taste.
