Boston Baked Beans Recipe

Description:  We believe this recipe is something to toot about!

Yield: 6 servings


Ingredients:

  • 1 cups dry navy beans

  • 6 cups water

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard

  • 2 teaspoons chopped onions

  • 1/2 cup dark molasses

  • six to eight slices bacon


Preparation Directions:

  1. Boil beans in water for 2 minutes.

  2. Soak beans overnight in water.

  3. Remove from refrigerator.

  4. Add salt to beans and simmer until beans are tender, about 1 1/2 hours.

  5. Drain beans, save 1/2 cup liquid.

  6. Place beans in a 3 quart casserole dish.

  7. In a separate bowl, combine and mix together cooking liquid and all remaining ingredients, except bacon.

  8. Pour mixture over the beans.

  9. Add strips of bacon on top of beans.

  10. Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for one hour, or until lightly browned.

  11. Serve hot.
